Extension Education

Directorate of Extension Education undertakes the effective dissemination of latest technical information and technologies developed by the scientists to farmers and entrepreneurs. This Directorate disseminates the information developed through the rigorous and scientific research available with Directorate of Research and various divisions of Faculty of Agriculture & Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & A.H. Some of the major activities pursued by this directorate are as under:

The activities of extension education (exclusively primarily being carried out by faculty members appointed under four Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK),
 

  Extension Education Council

a)      Director Extension Education shall act as Member secretary of the Extension Education Council (in accordance with section 17(1) of the Act). In his absence a person in the University service shall be nominated by the Vice Chancellor to act as Member Secretary.

b)      The secretary shall give 10 days notice along with agenda before each meeting.

c)      The Extension Education Council shall meet at least once in a year if required additional meetings may be called by the Vice Chancellor.

d)      Quorum of The meetings of the Extension Education Council shall be  of the total strength of the members of the council .In Case of emergency or special circumstances the Vice Chancellor may call a meeting of the Extension Education Council suspending the notice period to the extent he deems fit. Quorum for such emergency meetings shall be 1/3 of the total strength of the members of the Extension Education Council. In case such emergency meeting is adjourned for want of quorum, no quorum shall be essential for the next meeting for transaction of the same business.

e)      All members of the Extension Education Council other than ex-officio members shall hold office for a period of one year. 

Extension Activities

e-KIOSKS Facility for Farmers: Online e-learning Kiosks are in advance stages of installation at 20 different remote locations in Jammu division to connect farmers with scientists through e-studio at main campus Chatha.

      Farm Advisory Services

Regular Training & Visit (T & V) programme meetings are conducted at districts HQs

Zonal Research and Extension Advisory Committee  (ZREAC) meetings were organised for Kharif & Rabi

340 Front Line Demonstrations laid under KVKs

300 Front Line Demonstrations laid under ISOPAM for Maize

We has published Package of Practices for Rabi, Kharif, Horticulture & vegetable crops and technical bulletins for Olive.

Two training programmes of Level – I & II experts of Kissan Call Centres were held.

University in collaboration with Doordarshan, Akashwani and local siti cable is regularly passing information to farmers, about 75 topics has so far been covered.

Weather forecasting for farming community is being done every week through print/electronic media

KVK's

Four KVK’s are working  at  Jammu, Rajouri, Bhaderwah & Reasi.

      KVK Poonch  got sanctioned  and KVK Kathua is in the final stages.

      KVK’s are regularly providing farm Advisory services, demonstrations, Vocational trainings for
      farmers, farm women & rural youth.
