Sher-e-Kashmir
University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu came into existence
on 20th September, 1999 following the amendment in Sher-e-Kashmir University of
Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act, 1982 through the State Legislature
with background aspirations, commitment and missionary zeal to cater the needs
of entire region through integration of teaching, research and extension. The
main goal is to increase agricultural production and productivity in
sustainable manner for food, nutrition and livelihood security of people and
overall economic prosperity of farming community for the entire Jammu region.
Dry land Research Sub Station, Rakh Dhiansar was established in 1974 at present
location and was renamed as Advanced Centre for Rainfed Agriculture (ACRA) which
serves as a nodal centre to cater the research activities and technological
requirements of rainfed areas of Jammu region extending from Akhnoor to Kathua
districts of the region
