Directorate of Extension

Directorate of Extension undertakes the effective dissemination of latest technical information and technologies developed by the scientists to farmers and entrepreneurs. This Directorate disseminates the information developed through the rigorous and scientific research available with Directorate of Research and various divisions of Faculty of Agriculture & Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & A.H. Some of the major activities pursued by this directorate are as under The activities of extension education (exclusively primarily being carried out by faculty members appointed under four Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK).

Mandate

  • To create a better nexus between University Scientists and the farming community.
  • Timely transfer of developed technology by University to the farming community.
  • To arrange skilled demonstration, for establishment of adaptive research as On-farm Trials.
  • To arrange skilled demonstration, for establishment of adaptive research as On-farm Trials.
  • Crop and Animal Science oriented trainings for agricultural resource manpower including in-service departmental officers.
  • Vocational off-season trainings to agricultural labour including farming youth and women folk in selected fields / area.
  • Taking up field cases to monitor and evaluate for impact of improved technology. Establishment of farm science clinics, organization of poly ambulatory clinics for on-spot treatment of animals.
  • Information support to farmers through press and electronic media.
  • Documentation and publication of information through bulletins, pamphlets, field operations calendars and weather forecasting messages.
  • Holding of Kissan Melas / Goshties at district / divisional and state level.
  • Mobilization of inputs and resource management.
  • To execute and monitor extension projects (Transfer of technology) to farming community through ATIC, KVKs, Kissan Call Centre.
  • To update the Scientific Information through publication of package of practices, extension journals and monthly messages.
